  •     About English Horn Sealing Tube
  •     How to Use Latex Sealing Tube

English Hornist have used fish skin, teflon tape and hard plastic tubing to
seal the area between the staple and bocal.  The problem with fish skin is
that is quickly wears out.  Teflon tape last longer but like fish skin it tends
to roll into a string and develop holes after several uses and must be
re-administered every time you remove the staple from the bocal.  Hard
plastic tubing (fish tank tubing) is difficult to put on the staple and can
stretch over a period of use and slip off the staple.

Latex Sealing Tube is easy to cut, can easily be stretched over the staple
and retains it's soft elasticity for the life of use.

How To Use Latex Sealing Tubing

1)    Cut approximately 7 mm of tubing from the roll with a safety razor.

2)    Stretch approximately 6 mm of the tubing over the base of the staple.

3)    Roll the extra 1 mm of tubing over on itself.  Put staple on * bocal.

4)    When the reed is adjusted on the bocal roll the extra tubing over the bocal.

5)    Roll the tubing back when you want to remove the reed.

*    If the tubing is not rolled out of the way, staples will not seat tightly onto bocal.
